A rather unique townhouse stands on Bedford Street in New York’s Greenwich Village. At 9.5 feet wide and 42 feet long it’s the narrowest building in the city; and it could be yours for a measly $2.7 million.
According to real estate broker Alex Nicholas, anthropologist Margaret Mead, poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, and actors Cary Grant and John Barrymore once lived there. The house is a three-story structure with large windows at the front and rear, in addition to a skylight, and it “boasts” plenty of light.
[According to the listing by the Corcoran agent] the house has a parlor, kitchen, and dining area on the first floor, a double living room on the second floor, and a master bedroom suite on the third. The kitchen floor has a trapdoor that leads to a finished basement.
“Nicholas says it’s a place for someone who wants a little history.” Since history has become a commodity these days, I’m sure that it’s a steal at a few million bucks.
