Warner Bros. will culminate a worldwide 70th anniversary celebration of THE WIZARD OF OZ in New York City. On September 24, at the historic (as well as ultra chic) Tavern on the Green, owner Jennifer Oz LeRoy (granddaughter of Mervyn LeRoy, famed producer of the 1939 film) will host a splendid event at the renowned tavern.

The entire restaurant will, for one night, be transformed into a mini-Emerald City topped off with a Yellow Brick Road. The Emerald Gala will feature Grammy Award-winning Ashanti (who recently made her theatrical debut as Dorothy in City Center’s THE WIZ) along with Lorna Luft (daughter of Judy Garland) who will perform a musical tribute to her beloved, superbly-talented mother.

Also appearing at the Emerald Gala will be five of the original actors who played the Munchkins and cast members from The Wizard of Oz National Tour performing acts from the show.

Warner Home Video will use the occasion to hype The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary Collector’s Editions, Blu-ray/DVD releases of the film, offering pristine picture quality and including treasured collectibles with enough brand-new bonus content to keep a viewer viewing for the next 70 years.
