I believe that, before this Coney Island Beach Flicks series, the last time a film was shown in Coney Island was at the defunct Shore Theatre (now a landmark) in 1972; in fact, not very long before Allen’s Manhattan was released.
Nevertheless, the place is beside itself with introducing/ reintroducing rides and attractions to boldly resurrect itself from decades of abandonment and neglect: from fireworks to vintage sideshows, from concerts to circuses…everything. In fact, there’s word that even the Shore Theatre may come out of landmark indolence and start showing movies again.
